Southwest Chapter to Host Mini Event
The SW Chapter is hosting a mini event August 24 - 25 at Hickory Knoll Farm in Fitchburg. Back in the 80s and early 90s the SW Chapter hosted the long-running Baraboo Mini Event. Organizer Nicki Butler has arranged the weekend of August 24-25, 2013, for a preparatory clinic on Saturday, followed by the Mini Event on Sunday, August 25.
This year's dressage clinician and judge is Katherine Van Sicklen, "L" Graduate and long time member of WDCTA. Kate is a USDF Silver Medalist, an Associate Instructor with the USDF, and is currently enrolled in the USDF Instructor Certification Program.
Sharon Curtis of Curtis Stables is this year's Jumping Clinician. Curtis Stables was established in May 1981. Prior to that time, Sharon was an accomplished horse person certified to judge all seats of riding in four surrounding states, including WI. Sharon was trained by the best trainers in America, including Bruce Davidson and Ralph Hill. She was head instructor at Ralph Hill's farm for a number of year's and showed on commission throughout the Mid Atlantic A Circuit Show Series. She moved to Wisconsin to attend the UW and obtain a Master's Degree as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

USDF Instructor Certification Program - Request for Demo Horses for August!
We are seeking applications for demo horses for the Riding workshop, on August 3-4. We need horses for both Saturday and Sunday. Horses will be ridden by the Participating Instructors. Horses should be quiet, safe, sound, accept unfamiliar people handling it, fit for work, and schooling at least First Level.

Helmet Policy
The State Board has unanimously approved the following helmet policy (Feb 2011 State Board Minutes):
At any WDCTA event, State or Chapter sponsored, all riders must wear an ASTM/SEI approved helmet at all times while mounted.

WDCTA welcomes comments on its Facebook Fan page from all our visitors, both WDCTA members and the general public. However, to provide members with additional benefits that come with their annual membership – publicizing clinics, symposia, events, shows, or other activities is reserved for WDCTA members only.
