| PRESIDENT'S NEWSLETTER (March
2008) by Jessica Kaczmerek Will this winter never END?? As I write this edition, Green Bay is under another winter storm warning! I'm beginning to think everyone who migrates south for the winter really has it right! I really can't wait to feel my toes when I ride again! I would like to again thank the Southwest Chapter for their hard work in putting together such a fantastic Annual Meeting and Banquet! How
great was that Silent Auction? And let's not forget Jane Savoie. I'm
definitely feeling more positive about the upcoming show season. It takes
a great deal of time and effort for chapters to put together interesting
Annual Meetings each year, and I've never been disappointed. This year's
meeting was certainly no exception! With the Midwest Horse Fair now only one month away, I'm going to again encourage the membership to take some time and come down to volunteer at our booth. As I've mentioned before, this will be our last Horse Fair, and I'd really like it to be a great one. We are looking for people to help out in the booth for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you're interested, please contact Kathy Dunn at dunndressage@hotmail.com or Marie Stewart at xroads@tds.net . Your time is greatly appreciated. In place of the Midwest Horse Fair, the State Board is currently working towards a symposium-type activity to showcase both dressage and eventing for 2009. A committee is in the works, and plans are being made for the development of something exciting! As developments are made, I'll keep the membership informed. I'm going to continue to focus on the development of a Junior/Young Rider Program this year. I invite our Junior/Young Riders to send in activities and achievements to be published in the Newsletter. I'm working with Nikita, the Junior/Young Rider Representative, on developing a clinic for the fall - specifically for the young riders. Please touch base with either myself or Nikita with ideas and thoughts on how we can improve your WDCTA experience. Due to some time constraints this month, I'll be placing Part 2 of the "Improving Your GMO" article I started last month in the April edition. I apologize for this delay, but will re-run Part 1 along with it! This month, I have included "Email Etiquette Guidelines". These were passed on to me early last year, and I'm now finally getting to publish them. I believe that they verbalize, very effectively, the importance of using email in a positive manner. Many of us can be taken aback by words with no inflection, which can lead to undue hurt feelings and misunderstandings. I hope that this will give us all a better sense of how to use email constructively. In the meantime, stay warm, and know that spring is on the way. I'm actually looking forward to shedding season! Safe and Happy Riding! JESSICA |
